Adoption Birthday!

This weekend we celebrated a pretty big milestone in our little family.  It was Tucker’s one year adoption birthday! We have had our giant furball for a whole year! I can’t believe it. So much had happened in that time.  We knew we needed to celebrate accordingly so the party supplies were ordered in advance.

We ordered a Banana Puppy Cake box cake mix and some Vanilla Puppy Scoops Ice Cream.

What’s in here? It smells great!

No really though can I have it? I really want to try this stuff.

PUPPY SCOOOPS MY FAVORITE!

We have bought Puppy Scoops for Tucker before in the Maple Bacon flavor and he absolutely loved it. We thought we would try vanilla this time.  I was excited to make the Puppy Cakes to see how they would turn out. Fun fact the icing tastes horrible. Tucker licked the bowl clean and I tried a bit to see what it even tasted like and it was terrible. I can’t even describe how awful it was. It was like the doggy toothpaste experience all over again.

Mom, these look awesome! Let me have one now!!

The box made 9 pupcakes as we like to call them and I had enough icing for all of them. I tried to get fancy with one of them and it failed.

image

What’s going on? Why do I have to sit here and pose? Whats on the plate?

Tucker sat like a gentlemen for about 10 seconds and then it went downhill and he wanted his cake.

This…..Stuff…..Is…….Awesome!!!!

Mom, I don’t have time for pictures this stuff is amazing!

Tucker gobbled his food down and was one happy puppy. Of course he wanted more though.

I think I need another Puppy Cake to absorb this leftover ice cream Mom. No, really I do.

We also took Tucker to the Pooches in Park event in town so he could walk around and meet the other dogs.  Overall I would say he had a pretty good day. For about $14 we were able to get 9 Puppy Cakes and Ice Cream to go with it, I call that a pretty good deal.  He will get one a day so he doesn’t overindulge this week.

Ice Cream is Everywhere

Now I want to start by saying this is not as big of a mess as the time I filled Tucker’s Kong with treats and dropped it on the floor to watch treats fly everywhere.  Or even the time I filled his Kong with Greek yogurt and he dropped it down the stairs, splattering yogurt all over the walls, stairs and everything in its path.  Now that I think of it we have struggled with the Kong, but regardless he made a mess.

Guys we should celebrate! I am healing like a champ!

To celebrate Tucker’s fantastic check up we decided to give him the last of his puppy scoops ice cream. He was super excited. No more cone of shame and ice cream in the same day!

image

This is delicious!! Maple Bacon heaven!

He was so excited he took the ice cream container and immediately ran into his kennel with it.  Where he proceeded to dump the giant ice cream blob on his bed.  We grabbed the container and waited until he finished licking every drop off.  Then he was allowed the last few bits from the container.  He was so excited he tried to eat the container and he was covered in it.

image

It’s so good give me more! I know there is more in that thing!

He was hilarious as we sat down with him and tried to get him to calm back down. At this point he was so excited he was trying to run and jump around.  I guess that stuff is really good.

image

Guys I’m fine, let me go. What do you mean I have something on my face? I don’t feel it.

It was hilarious how excited he was and how he was so intense while eating.  I think we need to bulk order that stuff. They have Puppy Cakes that I am also thinking about ordering for his adoption birthday.  His adoption birthday falls on the local Pooches in the Park event in my town. I recently joined the planning committee for the dog park so it will be fun to plan events for dogs!

Sunday Scoops

Now don’t panic, we still had Sunday School but the ice cream trumped the title.  Yesterday we ran down to the state fair for a short day trip but Tucker was not a fan of this and ripped his comforter up.

Look Mom I left you a present for when you came home.

Look Mom I left you a present for when you came home.

Tucker ripped open a section of his comforter that we turned into a bed because he ripped up his last bed.  So hopefully there is an indestructible bed out there somewhere we can invest in when he is full grown.

But at the fair Reid finally got to try his deep fried oreos that were all sold out last year.

Before, during and after the decadent deep fried oreos.

Quick trip out to the fair.

Quick trip out to the fair.

We really just did a drive by to get our corn dogs, oreos and see the animals. We met my cousins to see the little ones ride rides and then scooted out.  We had a handsome puppy waiting for us. I have noticed that makes me more of a homebody.  Reid and I plan everything around Tucker’s schedule because we haven’t decided on a boarding option so everything is short trips out and we normally leave early from everything, but Tucker is only a puppy once.

Today we did have class and there were only two of us so it went by pretty quick because our trainer, Alex, was able to spend more time with us.  After a long day of class and outside house work Tucker earned his weekly Puppy Scoops.

Dad, drop the ice cream and no one gets hurt.

He knew what was in the container and was super excited to get his ice cream.

Yum, yum, yum!!!

Yum, yum, yum!!!

Can't talk Mom, ice cream to lick.

Mom, I don't think you understand how good this is.

Gotta get your full snout in to appreciate this.

Then after he finished his ice cream up I had to chase him around the house to get the container back. I guess that stuff is good to the last drop.

Nooo, its empty.

Nooo, its empty.

Empty or not its mine! You can't have it!

Empty or not its mine! You can’t have it!

We will be making an order for the Puppy Scoops ice cream soon.  It makes a great weekend treat for Tucker and we can get four servings out of it if we portion him a little better. We easily got three good servings for him for this tub and he loved it.  It’s only fitting because Reid and I love ice cream so our dog must love it as well. Runs in the family, right?

Ice Cream, Popsicles and Trips to the Vet

Its been a busy weekend and its not even over yet! I froze Tucker’s popsicle toy that came in the Pet Gift Box and he loved that!

What is this Mom?!

What is this Mom?!

Oh this is awesome!

Oh this is awesome!

It's so cold and wonderful!

Yep, this is great.

Yep, this is great.

Mom, leave me alone I have a popsicle.

Mom, leave me alone I have a popsicle.

As you can see Tucker was a huge fan of that toy that he got.  He was such a fan that he tore the fabric and started pulling out frozen stuffing.  His toy was short lived until he destroyed it but it was a good idea to freeze it.  We wont purchase that brand of toy because it didn’t hold up but it was a great concept for a freezer toy and I will be on the look out for similar products.

Later we decided to let Tucker have his puppy ice cream.  That was also a smashing success! Probably going to have to look into buying Puppy Scoops Ice Cream.  The Maple Bacon flavor is what we got and that did not cause any problems with his tummy which also makes this a great product.

Mom, what's that?

Mom, what’s that?

Here let me take a closer look.

Ya, I need to inspect this for you.

Ya, I need to inspect this for you.

I'm going to need to inspect the whole container for your safety mom.

We also headed off to the vet this weekend to check on Tucker’s mites.  We are all proud to say that Tucker is mite free!!!! It look him less that a month to kick those pesky critters and the vet was extremely impressed with how well he did.  We also got Tucker microchipped while we were there.

Look, aint no mites on me!

Look, ain’t no mites on me!

We were so excited to have that cleared and I know Tucker will be excited to not have another skin scrap.

Reid and I also decided to embrace out inner HGTV creativity and started working on our back patio and some living room furniture. Tucker helped with all of this, but was pretty distraught when I took his beloved coffee table outside.

Tucker approved of this.

Still deciding if we like this.

Tucker enjoyed being outside and helping but he was happier to have his hiding spot back.  This afternoon we head to his first class of Puppy 2! We are so excited and nervous to see how he does in a harder class.

You Scream, Tucker Screams, We all Scream for Ice Cream!

If you can’t already tell Reid and I love ice cream.  We love late night trips to get ice cream and its great because Tucker gets to go with us.  I found this great place online that I knew we needed to check it out.  So last night we packed up and headed to Custard’s Last Stand.  I was excited because its not just ice cream but they have gourmet popcorn!! I probably love popcorn more than ice cream so this was awesome.  Tucker loves any type of car ride so he was super pumped as well.

Mom, there are so many smells out there!

Mom, there are so many smells out there!

Another surprise for Tucker happened when we went through the drive-thru, they asked if he wanted a treat!  I inspected it for him and it was a Milk-Bone so I knew it would be fine.  This meant, best car ride ever! We may have found a new go to spot for the whole family.  And you can bet that next time I will be coming home with a big bucket of popcorn.

Mom when do we get to go back?!?

Mom when do we get to go back?!?

Two Post Tuesday

Today you get two posts! I couldn’t resist my post this morning and thought I could go ahead and do my normal post as well.  I wanted to show some pictures of the seat covers that Reid and I bought actually in our vehicles.  We both bought a Pet Store Pet Seat Cover. I got mine from Amazon and that is the link I embedded but Reid was able to snag his from Home Goods.

My seat cover

My seat cover

It hangs a little loose but that is because it is a one size fits all.  Both Reid and I drive SUVs so not small vehicles but I could imagine this fits a large truck really well. I really like the cover because its so easy to take in and out of the vehicle. It just clips over the head rests and it goes all the way to the floor board.  I am pleased with them, and Reid likes his too.

imageMy print was different dog types and Reid got paw prints.

We decided to take a trip to Sonic for half price shakes to break the seat cover in.  All parties were happy to be on the trip.

Family Sonic Trip

Our poor carhop at Sonic did not know what to think of Tucker when she got to our vehicle.  She looked so terrified to bring her hand to the car.  Then to feed into her fear of Tucker Reid said both of our shakes were for Tucker.  She just goes “Oh wow, that’s a lot for a dog.” Poor thing thought he was serious and I had to tell her no that’s not who the shakes are for.  She still looked terrified the entire time she was there.  I was giggling by the time we pulled away because Tucker is the least aggressive dog I have ever met.  He has never growled or actually barked in aggression at anyone.  He hesitated and acted a little funny the day we met a kid on the sidewalk, but I think Tucker felt me being uncomfortable as the kid walked up.  Never a dull moment.
